I first met Katie and Tanner in person when I traveled to Pine Knoll Shores to photograph their engagement session which, by the way, I totally need to blog because it’s one of my FAVORITE e-sessions to the date. Katie and I had chatted over the phone a few times, so I already knew that the two of us clicked as a bride and photographer should!! So I was over the moon when they booked me for their wedding day. They’re such a laid-back couple. Katie wanted their day to be calm and enjoyable, and Tanner just wanted Katie to be happy!
Katie and Tanner’s wedding day was on a warm, overcast Saturday at the end of October! I love October weddings. Most of the time, it’s not too hot, not too cold and you can really style your wedding any way you’d like. Katie and Tanner chose a classic palette of white, black, and champagne with pops of greenery. Katie wore a gorgeous gown from Coastal Knot Bridal paired with stunning chiffon bow heels and satin elbow-length gloves. Tanner and his groomsmen wore suits fitted by Mens Warehouse. Their coordinator, Kristen, doubled as their florist putting together bouquets lush white hydrangeas and pops of blush pink roses and greenery. Their gorgeous wedding day was held at Ray Family Farms which was so bittersweet for the couple, venue owner, and I! This was my first time shooting at the farm, and the last wedding that they booked due to ownership changing. I know it was the perfect wedding for them to close out their season! We started the reception with a delicious meal from Strickland Farms Catering and DJ Kyle Pate opened up the dance floor shortly after.
Katie and her bridesmaids got ready for the day in the house on the farm. They spent time drinking mimosas, enjoying snacks, and having their hair and makeup done by Ana K. Moore Beauty. Katie picked out the cutest tracksuits for all of them to wear which I thought was the most fun idea! I love seeing the cute PJs and robes, but the tracksuits are sooo up my alley!! And perfect for a cooler October morning.
Katie chose to do first looks with her dad, bridesmaids, and groomsmen. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think dad’s reaction takes the cake!! He couldn’t get over how gorgeous his daughter looked. You can tell that Katie and her dad have a strong bond. I love when couples choose to incorporate any kind of first look into their wedding day timeline!
I loved Katie and Tanner’s wedding ceremony. It was so well-thought-out by their family’s minister. He made sure to tell stories that gave their guests insight into Katie and Tanner’s journey as a couple and how their love grew stronger and stronger and eventually led them to their wedding. We left their ceremony and took family formals, bridal party portraits, and then finished off our portrait time with bride and groom photos. Katie and Tanner are so natural in front of the camera, which is SO awesome for me as their photographer. They were the same exact way at their engagement session, so I knew their wedding day portraits would be some of my favorites!
I’m so excited to have been the one to document the Griswold wedding day. Katie and Tanner are a couple I absolutely loved working with, and that I hope I get to work with again in the future! Enjoy scrolling through their beautiful wedding day!
