Maternity – Megan + Graham

Documenting a soon-to-be mama in her final glowing weeks of pregnancy is one of my favorite things to photograph. Megan and Graham are a stunning, down-to-earth, hilarious couple. Their chemistry is unmatched, and it was evident how excited they are for their little boy, Brodie, to make his way into the world!

We photographed their maternity session in the beginning of December and, as you can imagine, there’s not an overabundance of greenery outside this time of year in North Carolina. Luckily, though, we have pine trees in the winter that added a few pops of greenery throughout their session! Megan and Graham live right down the road for me, so we planned for them to come over to our farm and use the pine trees and field as our location. I think it was the perfect spot for Megan’s vision, and we were lucky enough to have a warm-ish December afternoon as well as a glowing sunset for their session.

Megan chose to wear two gowns for her session: a fitted, black one that was just the right length for the dress to pool the ground beautifully, and a green velvet flowing dress–perfect for this time of year! Both are beautiful, but there’s something about a black maternity dress that I just LOVE! I think it’s the contrast of the brighter background and dark dress that make mama and baby stand out in front of the glow.

When planning your maternity session, I always encourage mamas to brainstorm and come up with a vision of what they want their maternity session to look like. Do you want dreamy, romantic images? Fun and playful images? Modern and stoic? Megan definitely went for a dreamy, glowing moment and I think we hit the nail on the head!

Megan and Graham have booked me for a few sessions in the past, and these two are always so fun to work with. I was honored to document such a monumental moment in their life, and I’m SO excited to meet their little guy in just a few weeks! Stay tuned for more of Megan and Graham!
